Live Wire Shines Spotlight on Stadium Neighborhood
City Takes Note as DC Mayor and Officials Attend Groundbreaking in Baseball District

Alexandria, VA, November 15, 2006 – Mayor Elect Adrian Fenty was atop a long list of local officials and dignitaries who turned out Nov. 1 to the groundbreaking ceremony for Onyx on First, the first for-sale housing community to be built in Washington, D.C.’s south east waterfront neighborhood. The new condominium marks the first steps in the revitalization process for this important region of the city.

Onyx on First is a joint venture between Faison, a recognized leader in urban development in the D.C. metro area and the Canyon Johnson Urban Funds, the country’s largest private real-estate fund focused on the building urban properties in undeserved neighborhoods. The 14-story, 266-residence condominium building will include such luxury amenities as: a rooftop pool, underground parking, a fitness center, an outdoor courtyard, a game room, and great views of the city from the upper floors. Condos will range from studios to 2-bedrooms, and prices are anticipated to start in the upper $200s.

“Faison and Canyon Johnson Urban Funds have shown their devotion to Washington, D.C. and its development by forging ahead with this important revitalization project” said Chryssa Zizos, president and founder of Live Wire Media Relations. “Live Wire is proud to contribute to the process of ushering the city into this exciting new era.”

The day before he was elected as the next Mayor of the District of Columbia, Adrian Fenty addressed a crowd of city officials, reporters and television cameras from the local NBC, ABC, and CBS affiliates on the role Onyx on First will play in the rebirth of the city’s south eastern quarter. Now known as the up and coming “Baseball District” the neighborhood will also be home to the new Nationals baseball stadium with both projects scheduled for completion in 2008. Screech, the mascot of the D.C. Nationals baseball team, was also on hand to celebrate the construction of the building and its residents that are expected to be a key component in the residential, commercial and retail development of the area.
